I’m not well and not feeling up to this tonight so it is bare bones. I’m not getting any points for style, so hopefully the effort counts for something. I’ll appreciate your forbearance if you’ll join me now as we stand and make the Abstract Speed and Sound.
This one comes to us from the fine folks at Fernet-Branca and has a bit of a medicinal flair, so hopefully it will help. Grab your mixing pitcher and pop in 1 ounce of Fernet Branca, 1 ounce of coconut oil washed light rum, 3/4 of an ounce of sweet vermouth and 1/2 an ounce of that wonderful Branca Menta. Add ice and stir to the beat of “Devil Take the Hindmost“ from that wonderfully terrible sequel to Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies: This time it’s personal. Strain over one big cube into a rocks glass and garnish with a dehydrated orange slice.
I like it. Sure it has a bit of a cough syrup thing going on, but in the best way possible. Honestly, that bit of a medicinal, herbal touch is perfect tonight and keeps Laura from stealing my drink. It is, decidedly, not to her taste.
There you go, short and sweet, but that is all I’ve got tonight. I’ll go back to my usual too many words as soon as conditions permit. Stay safe, stay hydrated and stay sane, my friends.
